Hello NBA 2K fans, NBA 2K has released its latest installment in the series. NBA 2K23 launched on September 9, and with every new release of the game there are always new features to discuss. In this article, we'll walk you through everything you need to know about each game mode in NBA 2K23.

Disclaimer: NBA 2K has clarified that Virtual Currency (VC) will have a shared wallet across console families, which means that VC will be shared between current and next-gen versions of the game.

My CAREER/City:

Marquee mode in NBA 2K, where most of us spend our time, has returned with some notable quality-of-life improvements. The biggest improvement is that the city is 30% smaller, making it much more accessible and easier to complete quests. However, the shrinking city has not limited the tasks and extracurricular activities that can be attended to in the city. Just like last year, you'll be able to grow your MyPlayer brand on the court in the worlds of business, music, and fashion by completing tasks. One of the most notable collaborations in NBA 2K23 is the introduction of critically acclaimed recording artist J. Cole to help you launch your music career. There are also courts spread throughout the City where you can play 1v1 and 2v2.

Badge levels:

One big difference in terms of badges in NBA 2K23 is a new feature called "badge levelswhich will make you think twice about which badges you equip. The tier system will also require everyone to budget their badge point. Having a level 3 badge in bronze will cost you 5 badge points, and if you want a level 3 badge in the Hall of Fame you will get 8 badge points. The higher the level, the more badge points it will cost. There's also the basic badges implementation that can earn you a free Hall of Fame badge if you can afford it. Basic Badges can be equipped after spending a certain amount of Badge Points at Tiers 1 and 2. This will allow you to equip a Tier 3 Badge as a Basic Badge for free, as long as you have enough Badge Points to equip it.

• Aim for a rating of 82 to 85 out of 3 if you want to be respected on the sidelines.
• Complete the Welcome to the NBA mission as you will receive 4 bonus badges.
• Get at least 16 skill badge points (Shooting/Finishing/Playmaking/Defending) if you want to get the badge for free.
• The Gym Rat badge is "under the hood" and will grant an in-game buff, but will not unlock animations.

Fast Travel – There are subway stations scattered throughout the city in NBA 2K23 that you can hop on anytime you want a fast ride around the city. Finding the nearest fast travel station is easy no matter where you are. Simply press R1 on your PlayStation®5 controller and we'll mark the nearest controller and guide you directly to it.

Memberships have also been renewed as we have four new parks and each one is very easy on the eyes. From playing in a castle to playing in the jungle to playing inside a volcano to the serenity of the desert, there is nothing wrong with any affiliation in NBA 2K23. You can always travel and change membership whenever you want.

Pro Tip: You get a reputation boost when playing with other affiliations.

Block:

To reduce the size of the city, NBA 2K added a block where you can queue games for Rec Center, Pro-AM 5v5 and 3v3, and Ante-up. This is another huge quality of life improvement by centralizing most of the core game modes to make it more accessible for all users.

Theater:

A new place/mode appearing in NBA 2K23 is the theater, where we will see instant matchups and games with different conditions. The theater will change each week with different stipulations and requirements to keep it fresh and entertaining. You can join as a solo player or bring a team with you, which is great for those who don't have a consistent racer lineup.

Every Friday morning (PST), the playlist with four events will be completely replaced with four new events! This means you'll be playing a constant stream of new and changing events throughout the year, and each week will be a different experience for you and your team!

Pro Tip: Play the game mode with a rating of 75 or below to easily level up and earn badge points without worrying about playing high-rated builds.

Arena:

The most underrated aspect of NBA 2K23 is the arena where we'll spend a lot of time polishing our insignia and overall look. In this case, 2K has outdone itself because the arena is fully equipped with a player entrance and allows us to walk through the tunnel like a real NBA player. It gives us the freedom to enter the dressing room and the press room, and also allows us to run out of the tunnel once the pre-game ritual is over. The days of Chris Smoove entering the arena in 2K12 in GTA are now a reality. They have done an incredible job of presenting a breathable arena and connecting it to the city and its missions.

Legend/Seasons:

Seasons return to NBA 2K23 and work in a similar fashion, awarding rewards for all 40 levels. Like last year, each new season will unlock different animations. The legend returns with a surprise. To achieve a legend, you must complete 4 different objectives. Legend's reward is currently unknown, but Mike Wang has teased that it will be very good.

Jordan's Challenges:

The fan-favorite NBA 2K11 returns to celebrate the 23rd installment in the NBA 2K series. Jordan Challenges consists of 15 challenges and 3 goals per game that earn stars. 40 stars in 15 games will earn you exclusive MyTEAM and MyCAREER rewards. Every moment of Jordan Challenges has been adapted to be as authentic as the era in which it takes place. This means that the broadcast colors and the rules of basketball change from one era to another. These challenges will allow you to go back in time and experience the career of "His Majesty of him", but also experience basketball in earlier times.

MyNBA in NBA 2K23 has been greatly improved in terms of new features added. MyLeague/MyNBA has been one of the most neglected modes in recent years, but that has changed in NBA 2K23 with the introduction of "Eras". For the first time, we will be able to go back in time and play different scenarios in MyNBA. This opens up the possibility of many different "what if" scenarios and different outcomes that rival real life.

IT WAS MAGIC VERSUS BIRD:

Travel back to the 1980s and relive the era that some say saved the NBA, the Magic vs. Bird era. Which team will win the Jordan Lottery and become the next great dynasty?

Some great additions to MyTEAM in NBA 2K23, but the biggest is No More CONTRACTS! A feature that all MyTEAM fans have been asking for for years. You no longer have to worry about paying VC or MyTEAM points to play Triple Threat Online.

Triple Threat Collaboration:

Speaking of triple threat mode, there's a new way to play. Now you can play Triple Threat with or against your friends. Another long-awaited feature has arrived in NBA 2K23.

Now, if you prefer to cooperate and want to improve your collection, you can team up with one or two friends on the same team to play cooperatively. Here you will face three AI opponents. When you win, each of you will move up the prize ladder for your individual season. This is very similar to what experienced MyTEAM players have seen for years with Single Player Triple Threat. As you win, you get more and more prizes.

Finally, if you and a friend or two feel the need to compete in multiplayer, Competitive mode is here! Not only will each of you move up your individual Season Reward leaderboards, but every time you win, you'll have a chance to earn a reward for beating the competition. MyTEAM Capture points, tokens, packs, and special rewards (more on that later) are earned after every competitive game in Triple Threat Online: Co-Op.

Clutch time:

One of the most popular MyTEAM modes is back, and this time in a single player variant. Gives you a chance to win big rewards against AI opponents.

Player Ban:

You can now block specific players in MyTEAM to ensure that objectives are completed on time. It also gives you a new way to play if you want to spice up your MyTEAM experience.

W:

W has received more features than ever with the introduction of the WNBA All-Star Game and the Commissioner's Cup to add realism to the WNBA experience. There is also an additional focus on the community playing W.

Each season will feature six weekly objectives that the community can collectively achieve. If the community achieves a common goal in four out of six weeks this season, all NBA 2K23 players will receive a reward.

Other new features:

NBA 2K23 also did a great job of adding more WNBA jerseys for us to wear around town. Relocation and expansion are now an option in W, just like the relocation feature in MyNBA. Contact challenges have been added to provide additional incentive to perform well in certain games and achieve certain stats throughout the season.

Play online now:

Play Now Online is for 2K fans who don't want to feel obligated to pay for microtransactions for their MyPLAYERS and MyTEAM. Play Now Online offers an environment where the player can choose a current team, a historical team or an all-time team. There are different leagues available in Play Now Online, the more games you win, the more access to higher leagues, which unlocks the ability to use all-time teams online. Play Now Online has always been a mode where you just want to take advantage of your team and play a casual game.

Asphalt

Have you ever wondered who would win in a 1v1 matchup MJ or Lebron or if MJ and Lebron would be the best duo in the park? At Blacktop, we can prove it. Blacktop in NBA2K21 allows the player to set up custom matches against AI or friends (if using the same console) to play 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 with their favorite players.

2KU

At the beginning of the year, 2KU is always a tool to help any NBA2K player get familiar with the game's features, such as the new shooting mechanics and dribbling controls. 2KU serves as the game manual and catalog for every 2K game. Thanks to the new way to activate the dunk counter and the introduction of adrenaline shots, it's worth spending some time in 2KU.

NBA 2K23 looks very promising with all the new features we have received. It has a lot to offer to all the different communities in the game. Old modes with all-new features, revamped MyCAREER, and an all-new builder should be a lot of fun for fans of basketball sims. Happy digging!
